Top Protocols and Blockchains list

Explore the top-performing blockchain protocols and networks with real-time metrics like TVL, revenue, volume, and more. Data by DefiLlama.

About blockchains and protocols

What does the OAK Research Projects page track?

The Projects page is our index of every major crypto network and protocol: layer 1 and layer 2 blockchains, DEXs, lending markets, liquid staking, restaking, perp DEXs, RWA platforms and more. Each entry shows TVL, category, supported chains and key metrics so you can compare ecosystems side by side.

What's the difference between a blockchain and a protocol?

A blockchain (Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin) is the underlying network where transactions settle. A protocol is an application built on top of one or several blockchains, like Uniswap (DEX), Aave (lending) or Lido (liquid staking). The Projects page covers both layers in a single ranked list.

What is TVL (Total Value Locked) and how is it calculated?

TVL is the total dollar value of assets currently deposited in a protocol or held inside a blockchain ecosystem. It's the standard proxy for adoption and capital efficiency in DeFi: higher TVL usually means more users trust the protocol with their funds. Our data is sourced from on-chain feeds via DefiLlama and refreshed continuously.

How are projects ranked?

By default we sort by TVL, but you can filter by category (DEX, lending, restaking, RWA, perp DEX and more), by chain (Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, BNB Chain) or by blockchain ecosystem. Each project page goes deeper with charts, tokenomics, links and OAK Research analysis when available.
