Alcon Inc. is one of the world’s leading eye care companies. After operating for nine years as a subsidiary of Novartis, the company was spun off and became publicly traded in April 2019. Alcon operates through two business segments: Vision Care and Surgical. Its Vision Care segment includes contact lenses, lens care solutions, and a range of ocular health products. Supported by brands such as Dailies, Total1, and Air Optix, Alcon holds roughly a quarter of the U.S. contact lens market. The Surgical segment includes intraocular lenses, ophthalmic surgical equipment, and consumables used in eye procedures. Key products include Centurion, a phacoemulsification system used in cataract surgery, as well as a portfolio of IOLs such as PanOptix and Vivity. Alcon also has one of the largest installed bases of eye surgery equipment worldwide.
