DaVita Inc. is one of the largest dialysis service providers in the United States, with an estimated 35% market share. The company operates more than 3,200 facilities globally, primarily in the U.S., and serves roughly 300,000 patients each year. In the U.S., dialysis reimbursement is largely driven by government payers. About two-thirds of DaVita’s domestic revenue comes from government reimbursement rates, mainly Medicare, while the remaining portion is generated from commercial insurers. Although commercial insurers account for only around 10% of U.S. patients treated, they contribute nearly all of DaVita’s profits in its U.S. dialysis business.
