Founded in 1911 by Joseph Eaton, Eaton Corporation plc began in New Jersey selling truck axles and has grown into a diversified industrial leader, largely through acquisitions across multiple end markets. The company’s business is broadly split between its electrical and industrial segments. Its electrical portfolio, which accounts for roughly 70% of revenue, provides components for data centers, utilities, and commercial and residential buildings. The industrial segment, contributing about 30% of revenue, supplies components for commercial and passenger vehicles as well as aircraft. Although Eaton is domiciled in Ireland and benefits from favorable tax treatment, it generates more than half of its revenue in the United States.
