Founded in 1937, Toyota Motor Corporation is among the world’s largest automakers, with retail sales of 11.0 million vehicles in fiscal 2025, including 10.3 million units sold under the Toyota and Lexus brands. Its brand portfolio includes Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu, and commercial truck maker Hino. Toyota holds roughly 50% market share in Japan excluding mini-vehicles and about 14% in the US. The company also owns stakes in parts supplier Denso and approximately 20% of Subaru, along with investments in several other companies, including Uber Technologies, Joby Aviation, Aurora Innovation, Isuzu Motors, and roughly 5% each of Mazda and Suzuki. In fiscal 2025, sales excluding financial services totaled JPY 43.8 trillion. Toyota also operates a financing business and manufactures homes and boats.
