Specifically, when a user deposits any of these cryptocurrencies, the protocol opens an equivalent "short" position to hedge against potential declines.

Uniswap operates with its own Automated Market Maker (AMM) relying on liquidity pools to allow users to exchange cryptocurrencies. Users can deposit cryptocurrencies into Uniswap's liquidity pools to operate the protocol and benefit from a portion of the transaction fees.
